Zeke Dawson: I
was born June 1, 1940; named Peter Stephen Dawson. My Parents were both musicians and performed a lot of church music. Mother
was an Organist and my father was Choir Director. Until I was 14 years of age I spent a lot of time in church with my parents. I’m
married to Becky Dawson and we have one son, Brendan, who is in the Army and one daughter Karen along with one grandson, Neal. Currently
I work at the county landfill as a heavy equipment operator and enjoy life and times with my wife. In
1954, I heard Scotty Stoneman play the fiddle and I was hooked on it. Playing with “The Little Pebbles” consisting
of Roni Stoneman, Van Stoneman, Pop Stoneman, and my self was the first band I performed with. In 1958 the Stoneman Family
left for Nashville, Tennessee to seek the fame and fortune of the big time. I stayed and finished high school then spent a
three year hitch in the Army. After my time in the military; prior to Vietnam, I worked construction
jobs and played clubs, dance halls and various venues that would help supplement my income. After attending a 31/2
year music school under the Veterans Education Assistance Program Act I moved to Nashville, Tennessee and worked for Loretta
Lynn, George Jones, Ray Price, and Wilma Leigh Cooper. Performing and working for these artists instilled in me a legacy and
history in country music and offered many venues such as “The Grand Ole Opry” which allowed me to meet, play,
and socialize with some of the best musicians/artist in the music business today. Since 1995 I have played with local bands
for dances, weddings, retirement centers, churches, corporate and community venues. My stage nick-name,
“Zeke” was tagged on me by my peers in Junior High School after seeing me play fiddle for a square dance.
