Jeff Belcher:

I was born in Music City Nashville, Tennessee on August 27th 1961 to the parents of Bill and Betty Belcher and now reside with my wife Dee just out of Bon Aqua in the countryside of Primm Springs, Tennessee. I have a sister named Leanne from Dickson, Tennessee and one son Joshua who is a musician.

I’ll never forget the day when my dad first let me strum on his old Gibson guitar and the sound that reflected from that old big box Gibson. That old guitar was far bigger than I was. It was a real struggle just getting my arms around it!

In 1969 I strummed out my first song; The Wildwood Flower. With so much love and patience my dad taught me the only song that he knew. Little did we both know it became the first of many songs as well as other instruments I would come to learn and as the years passed my picking improved immensely.

Christmas of 1973 my Uncle Wilburn Hollars band was to play a VFW show in downtown Nashville, Tennessee and to their surprise the audience was adamant to hear Rock and Roll music. Uncle Wilburn and the boys were lost. Come first break for the band Uncle Wilburn rushed to Mom and Dads house and stirred me out of bed stating the band needed me to play some Rock and Roll guitar or the band would not get paid. With little hesitation Mom and Dad agreed let me help Uncle Wilburn. Totally unforeseen I made my first appearance playing for a live audience. The place was packed and the show turned out to be a great success.

As years quickly passed I began playing the Bluegrass scene. I quickly learned playing the Banjo, Fiddle, Mandolin, and Upright Bass. My Uncle Wilburn devoted a lot of time and attention teaching and praising me for my efforts. He said if you learn to play all the different instruments you’ll never be without work.

Through the years I have been honored to work and play with many fine pickers and entertainers. A two year stint with the infamous Banjo picker Hubert Davis at the Bluegrass Inn downtown Nashville Tennessee is an experience and joy that I’ll never forget. I now play Guitar and sing Bass with the Leipers Fork Bluegrass Band. They are the finest folks I have been blessed to know and pick with. They are dear to my heart.

My first CD “Just Pickin “is complete. Zeke Dawson also of Leipers Fork Bluegrass is playing Fiddle on the project and I’m playing all the other instruments.

Zeke, Chris Whidby; Banjo picker with Leipers Fork Bluegrass, and myself have had many musical endeavors together.

Thanks to all the fine folks for your support through the years and may God Bless each and everyone.
